Profile

Nickname:  Cannon, Hollywood (on account for the following: living in Toorak and being a “fashion victim of note,” both in and out of training), Loose (as in Loose Cannon), Honeybrown (all over tan)

DOB: 15/06/1991
Height: 184cm
Weight: Off Season 69kgs (heaviest ever 74kgs in May 2011), Race weight 66.5kgs (normally in the 67's)

Lives: My home is Melbourne, spending the winter in Vitoria-Gastiez in Spain and eight months in Brisbane with Carina Leagues Club

Squad: Carina Leagues Triathlon Club- Professional Squad

Coach: Warwick Dalziell

First Triathlon: Technically it was the 2001 ‘Ballarat Go Tri It’ triathlon, Marathon legend Steve Moneghetti handed me my medal (which I still have!) My first proper triathlon was in November 2009, I hadn’t swum in years (2 years to be exact) and had done no run/bike training at all. Battled through for a 1:13hr finish in the sprint.
Favourite Triathlon Leg: The Run

Favourite Race: Huskisson Olympic Distance (crystal clear water, white sand, locals spraying you with water from their houses on the run) and Brighton(Green Point) Sprint Distance Race (my first proper triathlon, I go back each year trying to improve on my time. 2009: 1:13hrs, 2010 1:06hrs, 2011: 58.45mins)

Favourite Places to train: Falls Creek (Victorian Alps)

Favourite Training Session: A long bike along Beach Road in Melbourne, a long run around Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra or the Thursday Track Set in Geelong…..depends on my mood.
Favourite Triathlete:  Macca (love his passion and his willingness to speak his mind in an age where everyone is so politically correct) and Chrissie Wellington (admire how well-rounded a person she is and like her I have a keen interest in politics)

Other Sporting Achievments: My first competitive sport was Fencing (I had just watched the Three Musketeers). My Hungarian Coach Tibby was quite formidable, I still have my foil in my room. Yet cricket was my main passion when I was young. My junior years were spent playing cricket at a high level. My highlights included taking 8 wickets for 8 runs in a school cricket game and winning the Victorian State Championships in cricket in 2007. I’ve also finished 5th in the Australian Schoolboys Alpine Skiing Championships and 8th in the Victorian U/15 Road Cycling Championships.

Favourite thing to order at cafe: Strong Flat White with something extremely unhealthy/sugary
Most Embarrassing (tri-related) moment: Putting my shoes on the wrong pedal, not once, but twice!!
That horrible realisation that my left shoe is on the right pedal and visa versa.
